During my prayer time recently, I got to thinking about the movie we went to see – “The Lost City” with Sandra Bullock, Channing Tatum, Daniel Radcliffe and Brad Pitt. It was the first time in forever (two years of lockdown can feel like that!) that we’d been to the movie theatre, and it was wonderful to be somewhat normal again. On top of that, the movie was fantastic. Absolutely hilarious.
Why was I thinking about a movie during prayer time, you may ask? A great question!
I was thinking about the ending, and I realized that no matter what situation we find ourselves in, whether self-inflicted or circumstantial, there is always an escape route. God is faithful and He always provides a way out. It may not be the easiest or most comfortable route (it certainly wasn’t for the characters in the movie), but the end result is most certainly worth it. If you haven’t seen the movie yet, I won’t spoil it. You’ll just have to see it!
Paul reminds us in 1 Corinthians 10:13 NJKV “No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.” [emphasis mine].
Is there something that you need to escape from? Ask God. He’ll show you the “escape route”. You might not like it. It might be hard, difficult, uncomfortable and scary, but it’s the best option. You’ll come out the other side stronger and happier … and so grateful that we serve a mighty God who loves us. And know that as you move through the escape route, He is right there beside you. He loves us!
