Sunday came and everything changed!

In my last post, I talked about the significance of Good Friday. Good Friday and Resurrection Sunday are the most important holidays for Christians, irrespective of denomination. Jesus died on the cross. On the third day, He rose again.

I wonder what it must have been like for the disciples and the followers of Jesus that Passover weekend. They watched Jesus die and then went home to celebrate the Passover. They were all in shock. It is very similar to suddenly losing someone you love. They were lost, numb, not knowing what to do next, and very afraid. They didn’t know if the Roman soldiers were going to come after them too.

When the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, accompanied by some of the other women that followed Jesus, went to to minister to his body. How shocking it must have been for them to find the tomb open and his body gone! I can’t imagine what that would feel like; to discover that the funeral home had lost the body!

Then to be told by an angel that He is alive and not in the grave. The human mind just implodes. Who would believe you?

This is where faith comes in. Faith is knowing in your heart what you cannot see with your physical eyes. It’s not a feeling, it’s a knowing. Feelings change. Knowing in your heart doesn’t.

Jesus is alive! He is risen! The grave is empty!
